A cyclist has been injured in a hit and run crash in Peterborough

The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was cycling along Welland Road at about 5.15am on Wednesday morning (December 9) when he was struck by a van at the junction of Birchtree Avenue, causing him to come of his bike.

The victim was taken to Peterborough City Hospital with minor injuries and is now recovering at home.

PC Darren Nyul, from the Cambridgeshire police Road Policing Unit, said: “The driver of the van did not stop after colliding with the cyclist and has failed to report the incident to police.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may know who the driver of the van was to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the road policing unit on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
