Councillor pays tribute to active Moulton family

Three members of a Moulton family who died in a domestic shooting in Spalding today were known for their 'participation in community life and school'.

Detectives are trying to find out why Lance Hart, of Hatt Close, Moulton, fatally shot wife Claire Hart and daughter Charlotte Hart near Castle Swimming Pool, Pinchbeck Road, Spalding, before apparently turning the gun on himself.

The fatal shootings were reported to police at about 9am but although all three victims have been named locally, police have so far declined to confirm their identities or their relationship to each other.

Coun Andrew Woolf, South Holland District Council member for Moulton and ex-chairman of Moulton Parish Council, said: “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the events that happened in Spalding earlier this morning and my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased.

“The Hart family were residents of Moulton for several years and were known amongst villagers and the wider community through their participation in community life and school.

“It is a very upsetting time for those who knew them closely.“

Meanwhile, tributes to the three members of the Hart family who died has also come from Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner Marc Jones who also praised the work of police in charge of the case.

Coun Jones, also still a member of Lincolnshire County Council, tweeted: “My thanks to all @lincspolice involved in today’s tragic incident in Spalding and my heartfelt sympathies to family & friends of those lost.”
