Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has taken to Twitter following the triple shooting in Spalding this morning (Tuesday) to pay his respects to the victims and their families.

Writing on social media this morning, Mr Corbyn said: “Shocking events in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

“My thoughts are with the victims and their families.”

Meanwhile, locals described the incident as “devastating” with one woman claiming it had sent a “cold shiver” down her spine.

Amanda Pearson, who works at Welland Workspace Limited, said: “Everybody is naturally concerned and do not know what to do.”

Others also took to social media to share their thoughts over the shooting.

Kate Chapman said: “What is happening to the sleepy #Lincolnshire market town where I grew up? RIP and thoughts with families x”

Charley Wicks posted: “I can’t believe what’s happening in my hometown. Last year, a double murder. Today, three dead in a shooting. #spalding”

A spokesman for the Castle Sports Complex, which is around 100 yards from the scene of the triple shooting, said: “Castle Swimming Pool is currently closed due to an incident in the local area.

“The Sports Centre remains open as usual and we will update the website with any developments.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
