Top award for Serpentine Green Shopping Centre toilets

A SHOPPING centre in Hampton is feeling flushed with success after being awarded a top mark for the state of its toilets.

The toilets at Serpentine Green Shopping Centre have been awarded the top rating in the national Loo Of The Year awards.

The awards, run by the British Toilet Association, recognise excellence in “away from home” toilets in many different categories. Serpentine Green was awarded five stars for its washrooms in the retail category.

Serpentine Green was graded on its excellent facilities which include a separate baby changing room and a total of 49 toilets.

Dennis Baldry, centre manager, said he was thrilled to win the top awards.

He said: “This award is a real credit to our excellent cleaning team who take real pride in their work.

“It’s all part of the five-star customer experience we like to offer our shoppers at Serpentine Green.”

Mr Baldry paid tribute to the cleaning team who helped claim the award.

Leading the team was Liz Thwaites, who was recently nominated for supervisor of the year at the national Kimberley Clarke Golden Service awards.

Although she did not win the big prize Liz, who has worked at the centre for two years, was invited to a star-studded event in London to find out if she had won the award.

But despite her success, she remains modest, paying tribute to other staff. She said: “We all work as a team and we all work really hard to keep the centre really clean.”
