Raising your business profile can be a memorable occasion

Winning The Evening Telegraph business award for medium size businesses last year was a "very memorable achievement" by The One Group.

Winning The Evening Telegraph business award for medium size businesses last year was a "very memorable achievement" by The One Group."Over the last five years, we have built a brand and business offering excellent service to our customers," said director Anthony Barnes.

"The award has had so many beneficial factors to The One Group, mostly the hard work over the last five years from our people in the Peterborough and Cambridge offices who make the business so successful, have been rewarded.

"We have also noticed that our profile in Cambridgeshire as a successful recruitment business has increased, clients and candidates are more aware of us and the services we offer. The current climate is difficult for most organisations, but we have continued to remain strong and are keen to help companies overcome these challenging times.

"Above all, it was an excellent opportunity to be involved in an event which sponsors the local area, to be alongside some great Peterborough companies which also participated in the competition. The awards ceremony was a fantastic occasion and all our people really enjoyed the presentation evening," added Mr Barnes.

The One Group is a people solutions business with offices in Peterborough and Cambridge, and three dedicated recruitment divisions (accountancy, office support and executive recruitment) with experienced and dedicated consultants working specifically within each area of specialism. Each division covers temporary, interim and permanent appointments.

Businesses could be in the running to emulate The One Group's success in one of nine categories by entering the 14th Evening Telegraph Business Awards 2009.

The public can nominate those firms they think should be contending in the event's various award categories.

All nominated companies will then be posted an easy-to-complete entry form to the Business Awards. But companies can also chose to enter themselves by contacting The Evening Telegraph for an entry form on 01733 588842.

Veteran TV newsreader Sir Trevor McDonald will host the final in a glittering ceremony on Friday, November 13.

Award judges and sponsors are now urging business owners and managers across the region to make sure they enter their firms in the competition. The deadline for entries is Friday, September 4.

Judges' chairman Nigel Hards said: "The judges are looking forward to meeting those individuals and companies that are continuing to make real progress notwithstanding the current difficult macro economic backdrop. It will be interesting to see who has continued to invest in training, the community and the environment when often these are the first things to go when the market place tightens.

“This year’s winners will be real heroes.”

Evening Telegraph editor Mark Edwards said: “Our awards night puts the spotlight on the cream of the crop of our businesses and sends out a message to the rest of the country that, even in these difficult economic times, Peterborough is a centre of business excellence.”

This year’s competition will welcome back many of last year’s sponsors including Barclays, Norwich and Peterborough, Peterborough City Council and Royal Mail.

In addition, last year’s excellent team of judges have agreed to return and they are Bill Agnew, Chris Collier, Anne Corder, Colleen Gostick, Nigel Hards, Bill Samuels, Hugh Cripps and Jenny Weston.

After the closing date for entries, judges will draw up a shortlist of finalists. Each finalist will be visited by the judges who will then decide on the winners to be announced at the awards ceremony in November at the Holiday Inn, in Thorpe Wood, Peterborough.
