Peterborough Sculpture Park

Peterborough's Sculpture Park is an imaginative place for both children and adults to visit located near the Rowing Course on Thorpe Meadows.

Peterborough's Sculpture Park is an imaginative place for both children and adults to visit located near the Rowing Course on Thorpe Meadows. The park contains an important legacy of art which was commissioned by Peterborough Development Corporation in the 1970s and 80s.

Many of the sculptures in the collection have been moved from their original urban setting and – somewhat controversially - put in this lovely but remote site.

But whatever the pros and cons of that, there's no doubt that this outdoor art gallery is a wonderful place to spend a summer afternoon.

They're all within a ten minute stroll of each other, and when you've finished looking you can explore the rest of the acres of countryside in Thorpe Meadows.

Information:

Peterborough Sculpture Trust was set up to carry on the work and owns all of the sculptures bought by the Corporation.

Leave the city centre on Thorpe Road, passing Peterborough High School of your right. At the first roundabout follow signs left for Thorpe Meadows Rowing Course and Ramada Inn hotel.

Follow the road round to the right, keeping the hotel on your left, and there's a car park marked Peterborough Sculpture Trust. Walk towards the river, turn left and then first right and you'll see the entrance to the park.

By car, follow the A1179 west out of the city centre, turning left at the roundabout towards the Ramada hotel/Boat House pub. Or from the west, come off the A1 at Peterborough services.
