LOCAL businesses have been invited to learn how to reduce their packaging waste next month. The half-day seminar will discuss a range of financial and environmental benefits to be gained by companies packaging correctly.

It will be led by a specialist from Envirowise, a free government-supported consultation service.

Jenny Clare, from Peterborough City Council's business regulation team, said: "Excess and non-recyclable packaging causes environmental problems once commodities are unpacked.

"This seminar will help business managers discover how better packaging design can save money while displaying their products effectively and meeting the needs of the packaging regulations."

It has been organised as a joint initiative between the city council, Greater Peterborough Partnership, Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT) and Peterborough Chamber of Commerce.

It will take place at Peterborough's Eco-Innovation Centre in City Road on February 3. For more details contact Jenny on 01733 453482.
