It will provide tips on running a successful campaign, from choosing the right platform to what is needed before, during and after.

Crowdfunding is financing a venture by raising many small amounts of money from a large number of people, usually through the internet.

Last September newly-created Peterborough business Hochanda raised £1.9 million in crowdfunding in less than two weeks.

Gareth Jones, business centre manager, said: “Whether you are an early stage start up or a fast growing proven success, the alternative finance landscape is worth exploring to see what is relevant to you at your stage of growth.”

Steve Bowyer, chief executive of economic development company Opportunity Peterborough, which is supporting the event, said: “We find one of the biggest challenges facing entrepreneurs is access to finance; crowdfunding may be a relatively new concept for some businesses and I would encourage anybody to come along to find out more.”

Crowdcube, a start-up oriented, equity crowdfunding platform, gives members of the public the chance to invest in the businesses listed on the site.

The first investment crowdfunding platform in the world, it has now expanded this offering to two different types of investment opportunity: equity (stake in a company) and mini-bonds (lending money).

This free event, from 9am to 11.30am, is open to all, however you must pre-register via our website: peterborough.futurebusinesscentre.co.uk/news-and-events/events
