About 200 career openings will be available for job seekers in Peterborough.

Representatives from many local firms will attend the Jobs Fair later this month.

Job seekers can get immediate access to employers and can get answers there and then in the search for a better job.

They include Anne Clarke, Hereward/Augusta Care, Hales Group, Ramsay Health, Jark, Archway Care, AG Thames, Data Interchange, HMPS, Kisimul, Kelwaym, BGL Group and Care UK.

The Peterborough jobs fair takes place on March 25 from 10am to 5.30pm at the Queensgate shopping centre.

Admission is free and job seekers do not need to register.

A spokesman said: “Thirteen local employers will be hosting stands at the Queensgate Shopping Centre and all are recruiting and are actively looking to talk to local people on the day to fill their job vacancies.

“Job seekers can get immediate access to employers and can get answers there and then in their search for a better job.

“It’s like having an interview on the spur of the moment and is a quick and easy way for employers to choose candidates for the jobs available.

“Jobs Fairs are open to everyone from those who are looking for a better job, from school leavers to those in their 60s.”

The latest figures from the Office for National Statistics show the number of Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) claimants has risen in the past month.

They show that in January’s there were 2,500 people claiming the benefit, as opposed to 2,240 the month before.
