An engineering company has been chosen to lead the way in a £30 million planned revamp of Peterborough’s Queensgate shopping centre.

The Rolton Group has been selected to oversee the three year project that among other features will see a multi-screen cinema built within the 31-year-old shopping centre.

We have worked on many exciting projects for Queensgate over the years.

A spokesman for the group, which has offices in Minerva Business Park, at Lynch Wood, with 16 members of staff, said: “We have worked on many exciting projects for Queensgate over the years. We have successfully delivered close to 50 schemes of every scope and complexity since our partnership began in the early 1990s.

“Our unparallelled knowledge of the site made us the clear choice when Queensgate developed plans to create the extension spanning 77,000 square feet.”

The group will provide various engineering services to make changes to existing floors and the addition of extra space to accommodate a large cinema, several restaurants, and additional stores.

He added: “Our organisation is very proud to be involved in this flagship retail sector project and we look forward to the next three years and successful delivery of this major scheme.

”It marks a significant milestone in Rolton Group’s expansion into the retail sector.”

Queensgate owners Invesco submitted a planning application to Peterborough City Council two weeks ago for approval for the changes.
