5.50pm: Norwich & Peterborough Building Society has appointed Anne Gunther as its new chief executive, she will join the society tomorrow (Wednesday, 20 April).
Anne has been appointed as chief executive of the society, based in Lynch Wood, Peterborough, and she replaces Matthew Bullock who has retired.
She said: “I’m delighted to accept the chief executive role at N&P. The society has a strong heritage to fall back on, following a difficult year.
“I join with the prospect of a merger ahead. I look forward to the challenge of leading N&P through the next phase of its life and continuing to support our members and local communities.”
She is formerly the chief executive of Standard Life Bank - a £12billion mortgage and savings bank - and was managing director of direct channels at Lloyds TSB, including Internet banking.
Gordon Horsfield, chairman of N&P, said: “I’m delighted N&P has secured someone of Anne’s calibre to lead the society through the next phase. Anne has had a long career in retail financial services.
The announcement comes shortly after the society was fined £1.4 million by the Financial Services Authority for mis-selling investment products in the collapsed Keydata finance company. Last month the society stated it would make £57 million available for customers who lost money in Keydata.
