A bucket collection will be taking place prior to Posh’s FA Cup tie against Preston on Saturday (January 9) in aid of the Chris Turner Statue Fund.

Club legend Chris died on April 27 2015, aged 64, following a long battle against dementia.

He played 364 times for Posh between 1969 and 1978 and scored 42 goals, before managing the club between 1991 and 1993.

During his managerial reign he led the club to successive promotions and a place in the second tier of English football for the first time in the club’s history.

The money needed for the statue is at least £75,000 and will be delivered by sculptor Sean Hedges Quinn who is responsible for statues of Sir Alf Ramsey and Sir Bobby Robson among others.

All donations on Saturday will be greatly accepted, but if you cannot make it then donations can be made at http://www.thechristurnerstatue.co.uk.
