A Peterborough junior football team will no longer be benched after having chairs donated thanks to a police officer.

The chairs were purchased for Glinton and Northborough under 11s through a scheme run by Pc Steve Hinks.

Officers collect Nectar points when using filling stations, then PC Hinks, who is the Hunts and Fenland youth offending team officer, uses them to buy items for good causes.

Rosie Roe, whose son plays for Glinton and Northborough under 11s, said: “The chairs have certainly given the boys a boost, especially when they are waiting to be substituted or more importantly when there is an injury.”
