Peterborough pop star Aston Merrygold, could have a chart-topping hit – before the eventual winner of The X Factor show is even chosen.
In a first for the country's top talent show, all 12 remaining acts, including JLS, have got together to make a single to raise funds for Help For Heroes, the campaign set up to aid British troops wounded on frontline duty in Iraq an
d Afghanistan.

The single, a cover version of Mariah Carey's 1993 hit Hero, which is being produced by music guru and judge Simon Cowell, will be rushed out on October 27.

In the run up to Remembrance Sunday, the stirring song is expected to strike a chord with the public and bring money pouring in for this worthy cause. Half the proceeds will also go to the Royal British Legion's Poppy Fund.

For the first time it will virtually guarantee that all 12 last acts standing will enjoy having a Number 1 single.
