A WOMAN is still seriously ill in hospital after suffering multiple injuries in a rush-hour crash on the edge of Peterborough.
The victim, in her 20s, remains in Addenbrooke's Hospital, in Cambridge, where she was taken for specialist care after being struck by an articulated Tesco truck while apparently walking on the Frank Perkins Parkway on Tuesday.

Police said this morning there had been no change in her condition since she was left in a critical state, having sustained head, chest and pelvic injuries.

Dramatic scenes unfolded on the parkway after the accident, at about 5.30pm.

An emergency medical team from the Mid-Anglia GP Accident Service (Magpas) was flown in by police helicopter and landed on the road after officers stopped traffic in both directions.

The woman – who is thought to have been walking on the carriageway near the Eye Road junction at Parnwell – was anaesthetised at the scene and flown directly to Addenbrooke's.

The truck driver – a 47-year-old man from Lincolnshire – was uninjured.

Police today renewed their appeal for witnesses as they investigate the collision.

Anyone who has not yet come forward is asked to call Sergeant John Connolly at the Northern Roads Policing Unit on 0845 456 4564.
