THERE were fresh flowers laid today at the scene of a crash in which a young woman driver died.
The victim of the tragic single car collision has today been named as Leanne Gray (26) of Church Street, Stilton.

Police say she suffered fatal injuries after her burgundy Peugeot 406 crashed at around 7.30am on the B660 between Holme and the A1 yesterday

The road was closed for more than three hours following the accident.

Emergency services rushed to the scene to help the woman including two fire crews from Sawtry and Yaxley, and a recsue vehicle from Dogsthorpe.

An ambulance also initially arrived at the scene and was later joined by a rapid response vehicle carrying a senior paramedic and a team leader.

The firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to remove the woman from the vehicle, but unfortunately she was confirmed dead at the scene a short while later.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the tradegy and are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a van, which is believed to have been driving along the road at the time.

Sergeant Nigel Jennings, who is investigating, said: "We are appealing for any witnesses to this collision.

"Specifically, we are trying to trace the driver of a white, large sized, panel van towing an empty car transporter trailer.

"This van was on the road at the time of the collision and may have vital details about what happened.

"Any information, no matter how small, may help us to discover how this collision occured."

n Anyone with any information can call Sgt Jennings at the Roads Policing unit on 0845 456 4564 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
