Yesterday, tributes from relatives were placed at the scene near the A15 Werrington Parkway, with his parents saying the 31-year-old was "loved so much".
Another touching message added: "We will miss you so much".
As police renewed their appeal for witnesses to the incident today, readers continued to pay their respects through the ET's website, www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk
David Howard, from Wittering, near Peterborough, said: "I had known John since we were at school, and he was always a kind, generous and very sensible friend.
"He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him."
The crash happened on Saturday at 9.10am as Mr Gordon travelled towards the city centre.
When he reached the junction with Papyrus Road and Davids Lane, it is believed his Volvo clipped the roundabout, flew over it, hit a tree, bounced, and then was catapulted about 15ft into the air and through the window of a first-floor flat in Danish Court, ploughing backwards into the home.
Luckily, resident Laura Stevens (19) had just left her lounge to take washing out of her machine in the kitchen.
Richard Graham (44), who also lives in Danish Court, was in his back garden when he heard his neighbour screaming, and rushed upstairs to see what was happening.
He said: "I heard a whoosh then everything went quiet. My neighbour (Laura) said there was a boy trapped in the car.
"One moment he was hysterical, and the next he was really calm. I asked him who was with him and he told me his dad.
"I couldn't reach him in the car because it was so tight.
"I squeezed alongside the car, but because I couldn't get to him I told the boy to try to crawl alongside the car to get out.
"I managed to grab him."
He added: "I think I was just at the right place at the right time."
Mr Gordon was trapped in the vehicle, which was left wedged into the brickwork with its bonnet sticking out towards the roundabout.
Firefighters had to work inside the flat for about 30 minutes to free him while the A15 was closed to traffic.
Despite being rushed to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for specialist care, he died hours later.
Any witnesses who have not yet come forward are asked to call Pc Chris Breeze at the Roads Policing Unit on 0845 456 4564.
