Anglian Water, which serves Peterborough, has announced customers will see price cuts of seven per cent over the next five years following a ruling by watchdog Ofwat.
The good news comes following a ruling yesterday by regulator Ofwat.

The watchdog is calling for a £3 cut in average bills over the 2010 to 2015 period - meaning in five years' time the average annual UK household bill would be around £340.

The £3 cut is much less than the £14 reduction originally put forward in July. But Ofwat said its decision to meant bills would be £34 or 10 per cent lower on average than under plans submitted by water companies.

Whether bills rise or fall following the ruling will depend on where customers live.

Customers of Essex and Southern Water will face a jump in prices - 13 per cent over the period- and Bristol Water's bills up seven per cent.

But in other areas, customers of Anglian Water and Welsh Water will see price cuts of seven per cent over the five-year period."

Wow a whole £3, not even a penny a day... Wonder how much it cost for Offtwat to arrive at this outstanding sum?

£3 is nothing to moan at it. It could be a lot worse like our terrible overcharging power network. Now that needs tackling more then anything but then we've sold all that off.

I think the price cuts only apply to those on a metered supply. Households on an unmetered supply will see big increases.

It's a pity there wasn't a scheme where we could all donate that £3 to water aid to help third world countries get a water supply.
£3 is not going to make any difference to us. I would be grateful it it just did not go up for a few years.
