POLICE officers came to the rescue of an elderly man who fell over in the city centre yesterday afternoon.
The two officers, who were driving in an unmarked police car, spotted the man, who was lying on the ground close to the Evening Telegraph offices, in Bourges Boulevard at about 2.15pm.

The policemen called for an ambulance, and staff treated the elderly man for minor head injuries at the scene before taking him to Peterborough District Hospital.

A police spokesman said: "We were alerted to the scene after police in an unmarked car spotted the man on the ground.

"When we first arrived the man was unconscious. He suffered a bump to the head and the ambulance staff treated him before taking him to hospital."

There were only minor traffic delays along the road for a few minutes while emergency vehicles took up one lane of the carriageway on the A15 and passing motorists slowed down to see what had happened.

Why do you feel the need to show video of this. The poor guy has collapsed, why film it for all to see him. What about his dignity?

Dan Jackson,
The video shows the incident from another perspective - a police car, police van and two ambulances at the scene on the busiest road in the city centre. Hundreds of people will have driven by and wondered what was going on - particulary as the plain clothed officer appeared to be wearing a holster (see above comment - although I can confirm he was not armed.)
We hope the man who collapsed makes a speedy recovery by the way.

Hi Brad, thanks for the reply. I do appreciate it's news and a good piece of news, just hope if I was in that position I'd not be appearing on a website looking in bad shape.

I think Dan has a point. Printing a photo and explanation is fair enough - but did we need a video?
