The Peterborough Festival officially got underway today, with a parade from Cathedral Square to Central Park.
Damp weather didn't deter hundreds from gathering to watch the colourful display make its way through the city centre.

The procession was led by a brass band, closely followed by the Mayor of Peterborough Cllr Marion Todd, in a horse drawn carriage.

Music and dance made up a large part of the event, with various groups from the city getting into the carnival spirit.

Local schools also joined in the proceedings, as a number of themed floated passed by to entertain the crowds.

DON'T MISS a four-page picture special supplement in Monday's Evening Telegraph.

IF you went to the parade and carnival, let us know what you thought of it - and send us your photos.
