Update: A1 North reopened after accident

12.45pm update: The A1 northbound is now open after the recovery of a vehicle after an accident this morning.
11.20am: There is currently no estimate on when the A1 northbound will be reopened.
Tailbacks are stretching all the way to the Sibson House Hotel.
Paramedics arrived at the scene on the A1 northbound carriageway at Wittering at around 7.30am to find a car on its roof and a man, believed to be in his 30s, lying some metres away in a field.
The driver was taken to Peterborough District Hospital with serious injuries.
9.25am: The A1 northbound has been closed at Wittering after a crash this morning (July 18).
Traffic is being diverted along the A47 and A43.
Emergency services were called to the A1 northbound carriageway at Wittering at around 7.30am after getting reports of an accident involving one vehicle.
Details are sketchy at this stage, but it is believed a man was seriously injured but not thought to be in a life-threatening condition.
