A TRIBUTE has been paid to a Sawtry schoolboy found dead on Wednesday.
Police were called to the home of Alex Gale (12) in Beaumaris Road by the ambulance service at 5.05pm.

Police said they are not investigating further after satisfying themselves no one else was involved in the youngster's death.

Speaking yester
day on behalf of pupils, staff and governors at Sawtry Community College, where Alex was in Year Eight, principal James Stewart said: "He was a bright, lively, hard-working and very popular member of the school community.

"He was liked and respected by his fellow pupils and teachers. He was an excellent pupil and he will be sadly missed by everyone at the college.

"Our thoughts are very much with his family and friends at this very sad time.

"Fellow pupils and friends are being offered help and support to cope with the tragic death of this popular young man."

A police spokesman said: "Officers established that the death was not suspicious and the case has now been handed to the coroner."

An inquest was due to be opened and adjourned in chambers yesterday afternoon by David Morris, coroner for south and west Cambridgeshire.

A full hearing will take place in due course.
