Peterborough's Hampton Hargate Primary School, Hargate Way, Hampton, will be closed for the rest of the week after the headteacher was found dead in his home.
It is believed Jed Holmes was found dead in a property in Welbourne, Werrington, Peterborough, by a colleague on Wednesday morning.

It is believed Mr Holmes had been off work recently with stress, but police say his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Full story and tribute in Thursday's Evening Telegraph.

We have known Jed from the day the school opened because our son attended the first day under Jed's control and he was the leader in making the school what it is today. We send his family our warmest thoughts today as we are sad and very shocked to hear of this lost to the family and the community of Hampton Hargate, from Phill, Julie and Josh Edmondson.
God bless you Jed.

I knew this headteacher from my older children's primary school, he did an excellent job in turning the school around. He will be sadly missed. Thank you Jed.

my friends and i were mouring the death of our teacher ...a few of us were crying uncontrollably. It was hard to keep this from the little ones without them worrying too much.

Mr Holmes was well known and respected by reporters and photographers at the Evening Telegraph through his work at the school. It is with great sadness that we have to report his death. Our sympathies to his family and friends and all associated with Hampton Hargate school on this sad day.

I am a pupil at hampton hargate primary school. I am devestated about what has happend, it seems so unreal. Most of the people and teachers in the school were crying, I felt sad but i did not cry. We needed to talk in small groups to stop the little kids from hearing. All of us went home early, but I still wonder how he died.

We are absolutely devastated by this awful news . Jed was a fantastic headteacher and he will be sorely missed. As previously mentioned, he was always at the school gates to meet and greet the children and then again at the end of the day to ensure they left safely - even in the worst of weathers! The school will not be the same without him. My sympathies and condolences to his family and friends.

We shall all miss Mr Holmes so much. Hampton Hargate primary won't be same without him. A truly genuine person - such a shame - you don't miss a good thing until it is gone. God bless you Mr Holmes, may you rest in peace.
