FORMER Mayor Roger Green has said he is standing down after six years as leader of Wisbech Town Council.
Mr Green will announce his decision at the council meeting on Monday evening. Businessman David Oliver, who has just stood down after two years as mayor, takes over as leader.

Long-serving councillor Les Sims continues as deputy.

It is nine years since former newspaper editor Mr Green was first elected to the town council and he took over as leader in May 2002.

“I have loved being involved in the day-to-day organisation and development of the council and deciding not to seek re-election was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make,” said Mr Green.
