Living TV's Most Haunted team visited the building, in Priestgate, earlier this year, to film any ghostly happenings.

And now programme makers have revealed the results will be shown on the Sky channel at 9pm, on August 23.

Since the museum was built as a luxury townhouse for affluent Thomas Cooke in 1861, various supernatural sightings have been made.

The first-ever sighting, of a young man gliding silently up some stairs, was in 1931, by the Yarrow family, who were caretakers of the spooky Georgian manor house.

Stuart Orme, museum marketing and events officer for Peterborough City Council, who conducts the museum's ghost tours, said: "His footsteps were unnaturally loud – very odd as Mrs Yarrow then realised he was, in fact, floating up the stairs.

"He reached the landing in front of her, walked through the doors right next to her, without opening them and down the corridor, suddenly vanishing into thin air at the end."

During their visit, the TV crew of 15, led by presenter Yvette Fielding, hired mediums Derek Acorah and David Wells to hunt out the chilling ghosts.

However, they have still not revealed if anything ghostly was discovered – viewers will have to watch the programme to find out.
