BREAKING NEWS 8.30AM: People are being warned to expect similar disruption in Peterborough to those services affected yesterday.
According to Peterborough City Council there will again be no black bin (refuse) and no brown bin (organic) collections today so residents are advised to take there bins back in.

However, all green bin (recycling) collections will continue as scheduled today, with any missed yesterday being picked up today. There are eight crews operating today (seven yesterday).

The normal trade round is also operating and white good collections are running as well, but bulky collections are not running.

Information will be posted on the homepage of the city council's website – www.peterborough.gov.uk.

The council's latest news on disruption:
Hampton College will be closed to students on both days

The Register Office will continue to meet statutory deadlines for registering births and deaths. However, there will only be limited appointments available on these two days and people are asked to avoid calling the office on either 16 July or 17 July to make appointments

Private housing services, community safety, supporting people and the drug and alcohol action teams will operate as usual but customers may experience some minor delays when contacting them by telephone

The housing options service desk within the customer service centre will be closed. If you have an emergency homeless situation then come into the customer service centre reception and ask to telephone a housing options officer, for any other enquiries please wait until Friday or next week (recently updated).

The green recycling bin service is operating as normal today. Most, if not all green bins will be emptied, so all green bins should be left out for collection. However, black refuse bins and brown organic bins will not be emptied today and these should be removed from the street and put out tomorrow unless instructed otherwise (recently updated).
Street cleansing and grounds maintenance will be operating a limited service on both days

It is likely there will be a significant disruption to Travelchoice branded public transport services, firther information will be provided on both days.

The amount of protesters seems down today, are they all having a nice lie in instead of protesting the cause?

Er volks, I am a Kiwi or can't you read either? I am up at 4am every day from Sunday to Thursday with my job, no doubt you're still in bed then.

I have been around this Morning and protest numbers were down, as 2 of my staff also said to me after coming in.

Maybe your cause is losing its impact. Back to work for you tomorrow, that will be a shock for you.

Watch out scuzz - the litter police will be waiting for you. I'm just waiting for the council fines on bins being out or overflowing due to the incompetence of the council and government for this strike.

Yeah my staff are all paid well and earn a good living and work damned hard for it and all had a pay rise in March above 5% to reflect this.

If you aren't happy volksrat then do what we all have to do. Either accept it or look for another job.

However, as you are council with the pension etc you get when you retire you'll just stay and whinge about things. Most other firms can't give pay rises, the employees don't strike so why should you do so and then accept sympathy?

Will you be striking next week as there is too much work to do due to you having taken 2 days off.

Also why are you on here and not down at the strike. I imagine you are you a typical I am on strike but stay home relaxing instead of being on the front line person!!!

I'm here because the official picket has stopped.. Would you rather unofficial pickets?. Oh and yes the shock of not working for 2 days might be too much to take... I suppose when you dont work Friday and Saturday It's a shock for you to go back to work..
