DOZENS of pupils have been making a splash at a city pool as they compete to find the winning school swimming team.
Pupils at The King’s School were crowned champions in the inter-schools swimming tournament, which was held at Jack Hunt School, in Ledbury Road on Thursday.

The annual event sees pupils from Years 7 to 10 from schools across the city taking part in a series of 25 and 50-metre butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, front crawl and relay races.

Runners-up in the competition were the Jack Hunt School team, Sir Harry Smith came third and Stanground College fourth.

PE teacher at Jack Hunt School, Laura Thurley said: “The competition is open to any children with an interest in swimming, whatever their ability. All of the children were cheering for their teams, it was a really good day.

“Each year the children get more and more into it. We were a little disappointed to come second, but that in itself was still a fantastic achievement.”
