Police name woman hit by train at level crossing

A WOMAN who died after being hit by a train near Peterborough has been named by transport police.
Yvonne Caylor (51) died on Friday, April 25 at the Three Horseshoes level crossing in March Road, Turves, near Whittlesey.

It is believed that Mrs Caylor, from Peterborough, died after stepping out in front of a speeding train at 9.10am.

Spokesman for British Transport Police Steve Wretton said: "We received a call just before 9.15am about a woman being hit by a train.

"When we arrived we were told that the barriers were working and were in the down position with the lights flashing at the time of the incident.

"We are not treating the incident as suspicious."

After the accident was reported, an air ambulance, along with officers from the county's police force, were called to the scene, before control of the incident was handed over to transport police.
