PATIENTS at a medical practice will be able to meet their new doctor at a special meeting this week.
Dr Mohsin Laliwala has taken over at the Newborough Practice, and a public meeting to welcome him to the job will take place on Tuesday, from 7.30pm at Newborough Village Hall.

The surgery had been threatened with closure, but the appointment of Dr Laliwala means that residents in the village will be able to carry on using their surgery.

Newborough is the second rural practice saved by Dr Laliwala, after he stepped in to rescue Ailsworth surgery in 2002.

Also attending the meeting will be chief executive of Peterborough Primary Care Trust Angela Bailey, who will introduce the new practice to residents, as well answer any questions about it.

but it isn't their normal surgery premises. this is closed. (does anyone know if this not very old building will be demolished for housing?) the temporary surgery they have been told is a temporary building on the village green round the corner.will be there for 3 months trial to see how many people register with them, if successful i understand they are trying to get premises next to community centre.but depending how many surgery hrs it is open for,if closed when they need to see a doctor they have to go to ailsworth surgery, can they get a bus from there to ailsworth?
