As part of the club’s year-long charity initiative to raise cash for Rainbows Children’s Hospice, in Loughborough, Leicestershire, Harris decided to take on the task of completing four full rounds of golf in a single day.

Hard enough you may think, but considering he did it on three different courses, the feat is little short of Herculean.

Starting at sunrise on the Valley Course, at Greetham, Harris, along with caddie Chris Wheatland, John Sparks and Michael Fish completed the first leg of his marathon before heading up the A1 to Stoke Rochford.

There he was accompanied by three seniors for another 18 holes before heading down the road to Burghley Park.

Waiting on the first tee of the Stamford course were Burghley skipper Paul Wilkinson and Peter and Ben Stephens who accompanied Harris on the third leg of his golfing odyssey.

Then to complete the draining day, it was back to HQ for one more round, this time over the Lakes Course, with Iain Johnson and caddie Shaun Denholm in tow.

The epic golfing journey took a shade under 15 hours to complete, but according to Harris it was well worth the effort.
