On Sunday (May 11th), a motorcyclist and his passenger were injured in a four-vehicle crash near Spalding.
The collision happened on the A1073 between the junction with the A16 and Cowbit, near Spalding.

A blue Triumph motorcycle, silver Peugeot 406, silver Volkswagen Passat and a grey Ford Mondeo were all involved in the accident, which happened at 4pm.

Fire and rescue teams from Spalding were called to help paramedic crews on the scene.

A woman had to be freed from one of the cars
The crews then worked on the remaining vehicles to make sure they were safe, before assisting ambulance staff to move the remaining passengers to safety.

The rider of the Triumph motorbike and a pillion passenger are still in hospital suffering from serious injuries, and the Lincolnshire Air Ambulance was called out to airlift them to hospital.

A number of the occupants in the cars involved also suffered minor injuries in the crash, and were taken to hospital by road.

The road was closed for more than two hours while investigations were carried out and accident debris was cleared from the roadside.

Lincolnshire police are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident, or anyone who thinks they saw the vehicles just before 4pm, to call them on 01522 532222, quoting incident number 309 of Sunday, May 11.

The motorcyclist and his passenger in this story are my brother and his wife. My brother is a very experienced advanced driving instructor. With the majority of accidents involving motorcyclists, it is usually an inconsiderate negligent car driver who does the damage, as in this case. Now my brother and his wife are seriously injured in hospital, both facing many months of surgery, hospitalisation and frustrating immobility. And that's assuming they survive the horrific injuries they have. All because of a mindless idiot who couldn't stay on their own side of the road.
