SHOPPERS will be able to buy Italian produce at Peterborough's first Real Italian Food Market in Cathedral Square.
Italian breads, olives, cured meats, cheeses, oils and balsamic vinegars will be for sale at the Italia in Piazza market on Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31.

For the more adventurous, there’s Italian cake delicacies Dolce Pasticceria and Torrone, a soft nougat invented in Cremona in the late 19th century and now famous worldwide.

“We are delighted to be able to host an Italian food market in Peterborough,” said Annette Joyce, Peterborough City Council’s city centre director. “The stalls will offer a wide variety of well known and some less well known food items from Italy.

“I’m sure the market will prove popular, not only with the many Italian residents in Peterborough but also other people who enjoy Italian cuisine.”

Miss Joyce added: “We already have an excellent covered market, but the Italian market along with the continental and farmers’ markets gives residents and visitors to the city a choice of products that are not readily available elsewhere.”
