A MAN pleaded guilty to growing cannabis plants with a potential street value of £2,000 inside his house.
Tyrone Maison (24) appeared at Peterborough Magistrates' Court yesterday to face the charge of growing cannabis.
Police discovered a number of fully grown cannabis plants at his home address in Acacia Avenue, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough.
It was Maison's sister who alerted police, after she became increasingly concerned for his health and welfare.
Police uncovered a "mini cannabis factory" – and the court heard how Maison said it was solely for personal use.
Maison found lighting and other equipment to help grow the plants in nearby skips and rubbish tips.
The court heard how Maison smoked about an eighth of an ounce of cannabis a day to help him get over a vicious attack last year.
Maison suffered serious injuries after he was stabbed outside a nightclub in Peterborough city centre.
Sentencing was adjourned for a date to be set.
