FIREFIGHTERS were called to Perkins Engines today after a fire broke out in a machine.
Crews from Thorney and Yaxley were called to the blaze in Frank Perkins Way, Peterborough, at 6.20am.

The fire started in the insulation surrounding a piece of machinery, which had got hot and started to smoke.

The staff fire brigade was the first on the scene, and used a CO2 extinguisher to put out the flames before cutting away part of the machinery to ensure the fire had not spread.

Firefighters spent an hour at the factory ensuring that the area was safe.
