Gas cyclinders threat to firefighters

FIREFIGHTERS battled to keep potetially dangerous gas cyclinders cool as they tackled a car fire.
Crews from Stanground and Yaxley were called to the car fire on Ramsey Road in Farcet yesterday afternoon.

The vehicle was was well alight and in close proximity to a building and several liquid petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus kept the LPG cylinders cool with a hose reel and managed to extinguish the fire with another hose reel.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
