FIREFIGHTERS attended a blaze this morning at a factory in Peterborough.

Five crews and the city's volunteer fire service were called to Lawrence David, in Woodston.

The blaze started about 9.20am in the extraction unit of a spray booth in the building in Morley Way.

At the time there were 15 employees working in the building, which was immediately evacuated.

One passer-by said: "There was a huge plume of black smoke billowing out of the chimney. The workers were getting out as quickly as they could."

Crews tacked the blaze and continued to check for pockets of fire using infra-red monitors.
