Fengate: Candle sparks home blaze

FIREFIGHTERS were alerted by a passer-by who saw smoke coming out of a city home.
At 4.23pm on Sunday (May 11) one crew from Dogsthorpe and one crew from Stanground were called to a house fire on Bishops Road in Fengate, Peterborough..

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the two-storey terraced home and extinguished the fire using two hose reels.

They returned to base by 5.50pm.

The cause of the fire was an unattended candle.
