The map, which shows Britain's obesity hotspots has highlighted the worrying levels of obesity in Peterborough, with 8.2 per cent of the city's population overweight.
The research carried out by medical data analysts Dr Foster Intelligence shows that while former industrial towns head the table of the fattest areas, people from the affluent south are generally the slimmest but the obesity rates in places like Peterborough are beginning to creep up.

Marc Farr, of Dr Foster Intelligence, said: "We need to reduce levels of obesity, and detailed health maps like these show where the risks of obesity are highest.
"This will enable health authorities such as Peterborough to target weight-loss drives to prevent people getting obesity-related illnesses such as heart disease and late-onset diabetes."
The figures show the number of GP patients aged over 16 and with a body mass index of more than 30 in the 188 primary care trusts in England, Scotland and Wales.
Under the BMI system, which measures height and weight, those with a score of over 30 are obese – a 25 to 30 score is overweight.
