THE death of Jason Bennett - known to many as J Denzel - has led to an unprecedented wave of sympathy from the people of Peterborough and beyond.
Our on-line story yesterday breaking the news of his passing, at his home on Ledham, Orton Brimbles, was viewed by thousands of internet users.

Dozens - from the city, up and down the UK and from overseas - posted their own tributes
to a much-loved 26-year-old who was found dead at his home on Tuesday.

Many more emailed and telephoned the ET office to express their sympathy.

Read a full tribute to Jason: Friends tell of shock after death of popular RnB singer.
Here are some of the comments sent to our office.

I recall the time when Jason called over to his car and gave me an exclusive privilege of listening to his first CD prior to its release. we talked about marketing and publicity. i knew then that he was determind to make it in the music business. i am proud of him and his achievements. he was and will remain an inspiration to all young musicians especially those from the Black and minority Ethnic Community of peterborough. he included a lot of local youth in his music and video productions. Jason is not gone his legacy will live on.

I got to know Jason this year through friend who was trying to drum up some publicity for him and his promising recording career. A lot of people aspire to be a famous recording artist, but listening to 'Benny' reel off his plans and successes made me realise this was a guy who was serious, passionate and talented enough to break into the 'big time'. I arranged an interview with him for ESP Magazine and covered his most recent achievements in my own column. Jason was confident that 2008 was going to be his year and I believed him - he was never arrogant and always polite. He emailed me only a few days ago, I wish now I got around to responding to him in time. 'Benny' has made heaven a livelier place.

Im Tre, a local MC and close friend of Jason Bennett, I was shocked to hear about his death.
Ironicly we were meant to do a tribute song to lost friends within the next couple of weeks.

You will be missed by us all Jason, you were such a good friend to have, and so close to be a brother to me, as we have been friends for over 15 years. I am absolutely mortified and I will deeply miss you and will always remember you Jason.
My thoughts are with Jason's Family.

Just to say what a great school friend you were and how truly shocked i am to find out this news. You will be solely missed and my love goes out to your family. I just wish i had the chance to wish you good luck in all that you were doing and share some of the great stories i had about you to your children (and the photos) from the good old days at walton comp.

I had known Jason since school and am very much in shock about this sad news. Jason was such a friendly guy and can only think of the huge loss people will have in their lives without him. My deepest sincere condolences to his mum and daniel, and of course to his children... an unimaginable time for those. I'm certain that all his friends and family will very much keep his memory alive for their sakes.
RIP Jason.

I've known Jason since we were 10. We were best mates through school and have still have been in contact ever since. This is the most devastating news and makes me feel sick as he was now living the dream he had spoken about since back at school. He was always extremely popular then and even more so now which is why you'll never be forgotten mate. My thoughts go out to his mum, his brother Daniel and his children. We shared some good times buddy and you'll be greatly missed!
