SUNDAY 3.45PM UPDATE: THE driver of the Volvo has died as a result of his injuries.
Police have announced that the 31-year-old city man, who they have not yet named, died yesterday afternoon

Update 5.30pm Saturday: All roads around the crash scene are open again to traffic.

UPDATE 10am: A MAN and a child were rushed to hospit
al after a car left a busy dual carriageway and crashed into a row of flats.

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the roundabout at the junction of Papyrus Road and David's Lane in Werrington, Peterborough, after shocked witnesses called 999 at 9.10am today.

It is believed the man had to be cut from the wreckage of the black Volvo, which had left the road and embedded itself three metres up the side of the flats in Danish Court- which face out onto the A15.

It is believed people were in the property at the time, and the car smashed through a first -floor window.

The southbound A15 has been closed from Glinton to the city centre while the wreckage is cleared.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the driver. It's terrible to lose someone especially this close to Christmas. The Occupants of the flat may not be feeling lucky right now, but it could have been so much worse.

It is always sad to hear of another loss of life so close to Christmas, We use this stretch of road everyday. When travelling home from the city we turn right on the roundabout and I cannot count the number of near misses we have had by people approuching the roundabout at great speed and cutting across the fromt of us or having to break hard to avoid us. Maybe the council needs to look at this junction and find a way to slow drivers down when approuching from the south.

I actually live in the street that this happened, to my knowledge, the driver clipped the roundabout and the car flipped. Its really sad to hear that the driver died.

We passed this horrific accident 5 - 10 mins after it had happened and before the road was closed. It was a big shock, we first saw a car bumper on the verge then started to look for the damaged car only to find it embedded into the first floor flat, it was horrifiying, my thoughts are with the family he has left behind.
