UPDATE 12.10PM: All roads around the station are now open as normal.
BREAKING NEWS 8.45AM: A huge blaze has totally gutted the British Transport Police building close to Peterborough Railway Station this morning.

Trains are running normally but the station car parks cannot be accessed from Bourges Boulevard.

Rail users arriving by car can still access the car park via Mayor's Walk.

UP to 30 firefighters tackled the blaze at the British Transport Police building.

They were called at 4.30am this morning to the scene and four crews as well as a turntable ladder were dispatched.

The fire left the building gutted but no one was believed to be injured.

Scenes of crime officers will arrive later this morning.

An investigation involving fire chiefs and police is underway.

Updates will appear here.

Gosh! Wonder if MY home would get all that attention if it burned down?

Also, I was NOT impressed how the traffic was diverted, Crescent bridge roundabout was chocka block, I'm supprised there were no accidents.

LJ, I'm sure you would have that many fire fighters if you house was on fire and immediate danger to other persons in the area called for it! And yes your house would have fire chiefs and police officers attend.

You write your comments as if it's wrong for people to do their jobs!

I agree Daniel, well done to the fire brigade. Safety first and better to divert traffic and make things safe than put lives at risk
