Bag snatch linked to spate of ride-by robberies
BREAKING NEWS 4PM: POLICE are linking a handbag snatch which happened today with an ongoing series in Peterborough over the last month.
The latest robbery happened in Stonebridge, Orton Malborne, at about 1pm.
A woman, believed to be 60, was approached from behind by a man on a bike who grabbed the bag, pulling her to the ground.
The man cycled off in the direction of the Gloucester Centre.
The woman suffered minor injuries. The handbag contained keys and cash.
The robber is described as white, 21 to 22 years old, and wearing a white hat and white jacket.
Detective Inspector Jon McAdam, who is investigating the robberies, said he would particularly like to speak to a man on a bicycle who pursued the robber just after the attack, but lost him.
DI McAdam said: "Efforts to catch the person responsible for these muggings are continuing and we are fully committed to bringing him to justice.
"I would urge anyone who thinks they may have seen someone matching the description given in the area at the time to contact police."
Anyone with information should contact DI McAdam on 0845 456 456 4, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
