THE race was on when more than 300 youngsters took part in an annual fun run.
Matley Primary School, in Orton Brimbles, Peterborough, invited primary school children from across the Ortons to join them in the third annual 2.4km run.

Crossing the finishing line first in the run was 11-year-old Daniel Stephenson from Matley.

Meanwhile, in the inter-schools race, which included pupils from Newark Hill, Orton Waterville, Eyrescroft Primary, the Phoenix School and Longthorpe, the winners were also Matley team.

Class teacher and running club coach Tracy Frisby said: “The Matley children have been training for the event since Christmas and work to improve on their endurance.

“It is just a chance for the children and staff to get together and have a fun day.

“Everyone cheers each other on. We were just so lucky with the weather, considering that rain was forecast.

“The smiles on the children’s faces said it all.”
