My Posh Day: Neil Kirby, Peterborough

Current form: For my first Posh match I was part of the club's record attendance of 30,096 for an FA Cup fifth round tie against Swansea at London Road in 1965.
I was only seven so I don't remember much about the game itself, but I do recall walking to the end of Oundle Road and seeing thousands of fans wearing top hats, some with swans on the top, coming across Town Bridge.

I am not a season ticket holder (although I hope to be next season), but I have only missed about half a dozen home matches in the last 30 years.

Work commitments stop me getting to many away games.

Pre-match: Saturdays are long days for me as I have to get up at 5am to get to work at Chatteris for 6am. I knocked off at 11am, got home, had a shower and left for the ground at about 12.15.

I always go to The Venue and have a bit of banter with the barmen Matt and Carl (or Rem and Stimpy as I call them) before getting Chloe to serve me as she's much prettier than them.

I then meet up with my friends Mark, Tony and Brian and we spend two hours putting the world to rights. We are experts on everything that's happening in the news or in the world of football.

We watch the game from the London Road end along with the same crowd of people who come to every game. We had a guess the score sweep and then settled down to watch the action.

First-half report: Teams have been making life difficult for us at home lately by putting loads of players behind the ball so it was good to get an early goal for a change.

We dominated the first half and at half-time we were all confident we would go on to win. At the break we go down for a fag on the concourse at the back of the London Road terrace - us smokers feel like lepers these days.

We don't bother queuing for refreshments as it takes too long to get served.

Atmosphere: It was very good, although I was surprised by the official attendance of over 8,000 as there didn't look that many more than at the last game.

It was great to hear 'we're going up as champions' without the swear word that normally accompanies the song.

Second-half report: 4-0 was the least we should have won by. It was an excellent display even though we missed a few chances, especially George Boyd and Scott Rendell.

Lincoln weren't up to much, but we still played very well. My man of the match was Chris Whelpdale, although a special mention to Charlie Lee and Dean Keates who must be the smallest midfield in the division, but played brilliantly.

If I hadn't been to the game: I would have watched Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, hopefully with my 11 month-old grandson Thomas on my knee trying to convince him he should support Posh rather than Middlesbrough like his dad.
