Soldiers were from Whittlesey Home Guard

Last week we published the photograph above of a group of soldiers, but didn't know anything about them.
Now, thanks to reader Jean Redhead we have a bit more information.
Jean's uncle, Leslie Turner, can be seen on the very left of the front row, wearing glasses.
By trade Leslie was a driver for Eastern Counties, but he was also a member of the Whittlesey Home Guard, so we can assume this is who this group is.
If you know anyone else in the photograph, please contact Hannah Gray using the details at the top of the page.
Our second photograph relating to Peterborough during the two world ward came from Trudie Meadows.
Trudie said: "The photograph is taken outside the Cathedral gate and my grandmother, Mary Gertrude Emerton (formerly Hawthorn nee Claxton of Longthorpe) is fourth from the left.
"My grandfather, Frank Hawthorn, a native of Sunningdale, Berkshire, was killed in action on October 13, 1917, and is buried in Artillery Wood Cemetery. Boesinghe, Ypres.
"My grandmother and mother, Mollie Horman (nee Hawthorn) went on the British Legion battle fields pilgrimage in August 1928.
"In a letter they received, with the title 'Back to the Battlefields Ten Years After' – dated June 19, 1928 – it states: 'This is the first occasion on which such a large pilgrimage has been attempted from this country since the Great War'."
