RUGBY UNION: Tom McClure and Chris Hallisey scored the Hunts and Peterborough points, but they were well beaten 29-6 by a star-studded Cambs side.
ATHLETICS: St John Fisher finished a creditable second to Corby in the Peterborough Schools Cross Country relay. Their team was: Martin Morgan, Daniel O'Sullivan, Franco Disandolo, Jan Royzinski and Gordon Stephenson.
TABLE TENNIS: City B edged to a 6-4 win at Ramsey Tigers in the Peterborough Premier Division. Les Gribble won his three singles matches, but reserve Malc Taylor won the decisive rubber.
CRICKET: John Peacock of British Rail collected the batting prize at the Peterborough League presentation night. Jeffrey Bussey of Mitchells was crowned top bowler.
30 YEARS AGOSQUASH: Bretton Ladies romped to a 5-0 win over Portugal Place in the second round of the National Club Championships. Heather Simpson, Carolyn Norman, Joan Stapleton, Pam Blades and Jenny Forster were the Bretton winners.
TABLE-TENNIS: City woman Sylvia Upton won the ladies singles and Graham Dale the boys singles at the Hunts County Championships.
VOLLEYBALL: John Constable won 10 consecutive service points as Perkins thrashed Baker Perkins B in the Peterborough League.
