CRICKET:
Birthday boy Brian Compton scored 66 and took 5-47 as Peterborough Town drew a friendly in Lincoln.
ATHLETICS: Peterborough Athletic Club won their Sunday Track League fixture at The Embankment thanks to strong performances from Andy Anderson (triple jump), Mike Holt (three miles) and John Jenkins (medley).

ROWING
: Munro's Muscle Men, a scratch crew put together by club secretary Jimmy Munro, provided Peterborough City with their only win at their own regatta. Alan Dutt, Dave Britton, Derek Bambridge, Chris Hills and cox Dermot Wilson made up the winning coxed quad.

GRASSTRACK: Richard Greer won the Golden Helmet meeting in Spalding for the second time in two weeks.

FOOTBALL: Posh sold inside forward Peter Deakin to Fourth Division Brentford. Deakin turned down offers from New Zealand and South Africa to join 'The Bees' because he also wanted to continue his teaching role in Peterborough.

CRICKET: Alan Weston and Ken Woodhouse added 101 for the third wicket as Brotherhoods seconds drew with Leicester Veronique. Dave Peploe took 6-39.

FOOTBALL: Posh reported record season ticket sales amounting to £1,500 despite their demotion to Division Four.

CRICKET:
Roland Dean (5-19) and Richard Laxton (4-39) bowled Orton Park to victory over Newborough in a low scoring friendly. Only Ron Titman (24) made any impact as Newborough were skittled for just 79.

SPEEDWAY: Panthers won 45-32 to stay top of the National League, but Andy Hines broke his wrist while scoring four points. Dave Gooderham (11) and Nigel Couzens (8) were the top Panthers.

CYCLING: Fenland Clarion's Bill Glover recorded his fastest time of the year to take the honours in the Forest Wheelers '25' at Stamford. Glover covered the course in 1.3.21.

FOOTBALL: New England Tea Men manager Noel Cantwell revealed he intended to sign Chris Turner for Posh and then loan him back to London Road.

JUDO: Brother and sister duo Kevin and Tina German were the star performers at the Area Junior Championships in Whittlesey. Both won their under 45 kilos event.

GOLF: Professional Dennis Fitton scored two birdies and an eagle in the first three holes on his way to partnering Barry Tyler to a four and three win in a challenge match at Thorpe Wood against George Doe and Ron Cuthbert.

CRICKET:
Gareth Evison of Bourne finished unbeaten on 100 as Lincs Colts drew with Northants in a friendly. Mark Dodds (35) of Moulton Harrox, Mark Wright (2-18) of Long Sutton and Richard Bates (2-43) of Bourne also played well.

ATHLETICS: Femi Akinsanya and Andrew Lill were in fine form at the Cambs Schools Championships.
