CRICKET:
Big-hitting from Peter Glover (38) and Alan Weston (21) saw Brotherhoods home against Old Deaconians in the Jaidka Cup. Frank Allum (3-4) also played his part in the seven-wicket win.
FOOTBALL: Stamford announced their squad for the 1968-69 Midland Counties League season after capturing goalkeeper Derek Pitts from Boston.

The rest of the squad would be: Dick Whittaker, Derek Chamberlain, Alec Struthers, Mick S
tubbs, Les Carter, Mal Burge, Dave Gray, Tommy Copland, Roy Stimson, Ray Medwell, Barry Parr, Terry Smith.

FOOTBALL: Posh wing-half John Kirkham, an England Under 23 international, moved to Exeter on a free transfer.

CRICKET: Postals came within one wicket of a shock win over Peterborough League leaders Casuals but couldn't dismiss last pair Ron Mileham and Dave Mitchell. Ken Walpole (54) scored best for Postals with Neville Mills (6-34), Brian Holdich (36) and Dan Duffy (20) in form for Casuals.

ATHLETICS: Geoff Capes won the shot putt for Holbeach AC in a triangular meeting at The Embankment with a throw of 50ft 6in, over 20ft further than his nearest rival.

RUGBY UNION: Peterborough Rugby Club president Wilf Saul slammed the mismanagement which had led to the loss of over £340 in bar profits at their Old Showground base.

30 YEARS AGO

CRICKET:
Chris Beeton emulated big brother Bob by taking nine wickets for Peterborough Town in a match. Chris's 9-34 helped Town seconds to an 11-run win over Sleaford seconds in a South Lincs League match - Bob had taken nine wickets for the first team a fortnight earlier.

DARTS: Ken Summers claimed the Cambs League singles title. The Peterborough thrower beat team-mate John Hunt in the final.

SPEEDWAY: Panthers scorched to the final of the National League fours event by romping to success over Boston, Stoke and Scunthorpe at Alwalton. Dave Gooderham led the way with a maximum 12 points with Brian Clark (10), Andy Hines (9) and Ian Clark (7) also scoring well.

CRICKET: Debutant John Hirst bagged 5-10 as Peterborough Town dismissed Ashton Vallence for just 46 to complete a handsome 95-run Northants League win.

ROWING: Joan Heath claimed a hat-trick of wins at the Peterborough City regatta. The club's elite coxed four of Paul Hircock, Cliff Harrison, Steve Hircock, Dave Truss and Graeme Reed (cox) also won as did the junior 15 A four of Andrew Mansfield, Chris Parkin, Simon Abbott and Geoffrey Khan.

20 YEARS AGO

CRICKET:
Nendale hammered 50 off the last four overs on the way to a 15-run win over Barnack in the Jaidka Cup. Bob Milne led the way for the city side with 63 and 4-22, while Paul Ramm scored a quickfire 52 for Barnack.

ATHLETICS: Karl Eve, Neil German, Sean Jeffrey and Lee Rayment were all double winners for Peterborough Athletic Club in a Southern League meeting.

BOXING: Dave Pierre made a losing return to action when he was outpointed by Welshman Michael Oliver in a lighweight bout in Northampton.
