They are of great interest to him as he can remember being told that his grandfather had a shop on that road.
So he dug out this old photo- graph, which he believes con- firms that the shop was between the Bridge Cafe and Edwin Davis.
George said: "The wooden mouldings on the top of the window at either side look identical and the stone blocks are the same.
"The shop front is different as it looks as if my grandfather had a roller shutter.
"Don't be confused with the '41 Lincoln Road' at the top right hand of the fascia – it says 'Also at'."
George added: "The proud man in the picture is my grandfather, George Meadows, and the young lady his future wife, Jane Letch.
"I can guarantee the picture as being pre October 27, 1904 as I also have it in postcard form showing this date on the post- mark.
"Your picture showed the road built up in front of the shop to line up with Crescent Bridge but in my grandfather's days it would have been flat and a good trading position, being on one of the main routes into the city from the west, either over the railway crossing or under via the sub- way."
