AFTER a five-month break, the acclaimed Shakedown Blues night is back in Castor.
Bringing the best blues and Afro-American musicians to the UK, Shakedown returns with Travis Haddix and his Cleveland All-Star Blues and Soul band.
Mississippi-born Haddix first started off playing the piano, but soon switched to the guitar after seeing the legendary BB King play in Memphis.
Haddix has developed into a fine modern bluesman and songwriter with an original and soulful touch.
He was also the performer who restarted Shakedown Blues back in January 2005, when he approached promoter Gerard Homan for a UK gig.
Gerard obliged, and Haddix teamed up with the Lloyd Watson Band to play at Stamford's Quayhole Kates.
He made such an impact, that he was invited back to play Stamford Arts Centre, in January last year, and now he makes his third visit to the region.
Since he last appearance, Haddix has recorded two albums – Mean Ole Yesterday and Daylight At Midnight – on Wann-Sonn Records.
Tickets for the show in Castor Village Hall, Castor, near Peterborough, from 8pm on Saturday, September 27, cost £15 (£17 on the door). To book call 01733 380249.
On
Friday, 26 September, Haddix plays at Stamford Arts Centre. Tickets cost £15 (£13 concessions).
